How to Request Anything in Australia
Searched, scrolled, and it is not there? You do not have to give up and drive to a hire shop. Post a request on QRAUZ, and the people who own the thing come to you instead.
What a request actually is
A request is a short public post saying what you need. Not a booking, not a payment, not a commitment - just a note on a board that everyone on QRAUZ can read. "Pressure washer, Joondalup, this weekend, up to $40 a day." That is a complete request.
It works because the catalogue you can search is only the gear people have bothered to list. Plenty of Australians own a trailer, a post-hole digger or a marquee that has never been listed anywhere. A request reaches those owners, because it lets them answer a question instead of guessing what to advertise.
You can request a service, too. A job that needs doing - a small lawn mowed, a trailer-load taken to the tip, a photographer for two hours - works exactly the same way.
How it works, start to finish
- You post what you need Item or service, a title, a few lines of detail, and optionally a suburb, the dates you need it, and a budget. It takes about a minute and costs nothing.
- It goes on the requests board Anyone browsing QRAUZ can see it, filter by type, category and suburb, and read what you are after.
- Someone offers A person who can help taps "I can help" and writes you a message. If they already have the thing listed on QRAUZ, they attach that listing to their reply.
- It lands in your messages Their offer arrives in your QRAUZ inbox like any other message, with the listing attached as a card you can open.
- You book it the normal way Open the listing, pick your dates, pay by card. From this point it is an ordinary QRAUZ booking, with the same protections: your card is only held until the owner approves, and only charged once they do.
Writing a request people actually answer
The difference between a request that gets three offers and one that gets none is almost always detail. Owners are deciding whether their thing suits your job, and they cannot do that from four words.
Say what it is for, not just what it is
"Pressure washer" is a category. "Pressure washer to strip about 60 square metres of mossy limestone paving" tells an owner whether their 1700 PSI electric unit is going to disappoint you. It also saves you both a wasted booking.
Give a real window
"Sometime soon" is hard to say yes to. Dates let an owner check their calendar and answer immediately. If you are genuinely flexible, say that instead - flexibility is itself useful information.
Name a budget, even a rough one
A budget is a guide, not an offer, and nothing is ever charged from it. But it filters out mismatches before either of you spends time on them, and it is the fastest way to stop the wrong replies.
Keep contact details out of it
The board is public, so a phone number or address posted there is public too. You do not need it: every offer opens a private QRAUZ chat, and that is the safe place to arrange pickup. See our Privacy Policy for how your information is handled.
Answering requests: the other side
If you own gear or provide a service, the requests board is the clearest demand signal on QRAUZ. It is a list of people telling you, in their own words, what they are willing to pay for right now.
- Attach a listing. An offer with a listing attached is something the requester can book in two taps. An offer without one is a conversation they still have to work at.
- Answer the actual request. "I have one of these, and mine is petrol so it will handle that paving" beats "available".
- Do not have it listed yet? List it. A request is proof that at least one person nearby wants the thing. That is better evidence than most people ever get before listing. See how to rent out your stuff.
Common questions
What is a QRAUZ request?
A request is a short public post saying what you need to hire or what job you need done. Anyone on QRAUZ who can help can reply, and they can attach one of their existing listings so you can book it straight away.
Does it cost anything to post a request?
No. Posting a request is free and nothing is charged for it. QRAUZ only charges a platform fee when you go on to book and pay for someone's listing in the normal way.
How long does a request stay up?
Thirty days. You can close it as soon as you are sorted, or push it back out for another thirty days at any time from My Calendars.
How do I reply to a request?
Open the request and choose "I can help". Write a short message and, if you have something suitable already listed, attach that listing. Your reply lands in their QRAUZ inbox as a message they can book from.
Can I edit or close a request after posting it?
Yes. Open My Calendars and go to the Requests tab. From there you can edit the details, push the request back out for another thirty days, mark it as sorted once someone has come through, or delete it entirely.
How many requests can I have open at once?
Five open at a time, and up to ten in any twenty-four hours. The limits keep the board readable so that genuine requests are not buried.
Start with a request
If the thing you need is not listed, that is worth knowing rather than working around. Post it, and let the people who own it find you.
